Hockey: Poland through to World Cup quarter finals

Poland managed to get through to the quarter finals of the Indoor Hockey World Cup in Leipzig, Germany, on Thursday, after drawing their matches with Russia and the Netherlands.

Regardless of Friday’s result against Canada, Poland will still get through to the next round of the competition.

Poland managed to take the lead by four goals in the first 25 minutes of its match against Russia, although the score levelled within six minutes to bring the score to 4-4. Overall, the match ended with a 5-5 draw.

Earlier, Poland managed a 3-3 draw against the Netherlands, managing to rebound from a three-goal deficit in just four minutes to level the scores before the final whistle. (jb)
