Poland is playing in Pool B of the World Cup, which is on until 8 February. Other teams in the group include the Netherlands, Russia and Canada.

The indoor hockey world runners-up, trained by Karol Śnieżek, had a good start to their campaign, although lost a goal in the first four minutes of the match. However, the experienced Polish side managed to pick up the pace and turn the tables to win a substantial victory over South Africa.

Later on Wednesday evening, the White-and-Reds had a tough game against Switzerland, with the Alpine hockey team taking the lead a number of times before Poland managed to muster a draw thanks to some skillfully executed short corners.

Poland now plays the Netherlands and Russia on Thursday. (jb)
