Tuesday's leg saw former world ski jump champion Malysz and co-driver Rafal Marton finish in second position in the rally, while Marek Dabrowski and Jacek Czachor finished in third.
“Today's third stage went very well for us,” Malysz posted on his Facebook profile.
“I'm happy, because we didn't get buried [in the sand] even once,” he wrote. “I'm learning new things all the time."
Malysz and Marton are currently third in the overall ranking after three stages, while Dabrowski and Czachor are second.
Russian pair Vladimir Vasilyev and Konstantin Zhiltsov are leading the field in the car category.
The five-leg rally takes in about 2000 km of hazardous desert terrain.
This year's edition has not been without tragedy, with British motorcyclist Cameron Waugh dying on Sunday after falling off his vehicle. The following day Polish motorcyclist Jakub Przygonski came close to disaster, breaking his right arm and injuring his back.
The rally is the first round of the FIM Cross Country Rally World Championship, and the 3rd Round FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup. (nh/pg)
