For the past four years Nawałka has served as coach of the First Division team Górnik Zabrze.
He was assistant to the then coach Leo Beenhakker when Poland successfully fought for a place in the EURO 2008 finals.
President of the Polish Football Federation Zbigniew Boniek has said that the aim of the national team under Nawałka is to qualify to the finals of the EURO 2016 tournament in France.
Adam Nawałka made his debut as a player in the Polish international team in 1977. A year later he played for Poland in the World Cup in Argentina.
Due to injury, he retired from the national eleven at the age of just 23, having won 34 caps for Poland.
In the mid-1980s he went to the United States.
Having returned to Poland after over a decade, he worked with several First Division teams. (mk/pg)
