Her straight set win marks the sixth year in a row that she has made it into the quarter-finals of the Tokyo tournament.
The Krakow-born star entered this week's campaign fresh from winning the Korea Open in Seoul on Sunday.
“Coming from Seoul, I didn't really have much time to adjust and rest, but it's always good to win a tournament and I'm happy to play again this week,” Radwanska reflected on Tuesday, as cited by WTA's official site.
“I think winning last week gave me a lot of confidence,” she added.
Radwanska started as No.2 seed in the tournament, but favourite Victoria Azarenka was knocked out in the second round by Venus Williams.
The 24-year-old Pole, currently World No. 4 in the WTA rankings, won the women's title in Tokyo in 2011, and was runner-up in 2012.
Fans are keeping fingers crossed that she can persevere this year. (nh)
