Polish shot-putter Tomasz Majewski has belatedly won a gold medal in the 2010 European Championships after his Belarusian rival Andrei Mikhnevich was disqualified for doping.

The Belarusian Atheletics Federation confirmed the lifetime disqualification after renewed tests on samples provided by Mikhnevich for the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
The ruling disqualifies Mikhnevich from all medals received from 2005 onwards, including an Olympic bronze medal in Beijing (2008) and two bronze medals from the World Championships (Osaka 2007, Daegu 2011).
Polish shot-putting star Majewski originally scooped silver, but can can now add gold to his clutch of medals, which include two Olympic golds (2008, 2012). (nh)
