The German Bild newspaper reported on Monday that the 32 year-old Wach's A-sample test was allegedly found to contain anabolic steroids and he is awaiting the results of the B-sample test.
Marta Zielinska, who is engaged to be married to the Polish boxer – who lost on points with the Ukrainian world IBO, WBO WBA champion - said that her husband-to-be would never risk taking banned substances.
“Mariusz knew perfectly well how much was at stake. For us this is a tragedy, because we had our dreams, our plans. We wanted to invest money in the construction of a new house in Krakow. But so far we have not received a penny [for the fight]. We do not know if and when he will get the reward for his hard work,” she said.
Wach – whose record includes 27 wins and one loss – could face a ban and heavy fine if found guilty of doping. (pg)
