Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson will be at the Manchester City versus Borussia Dortmund European Champion’s League match tonight with eyes firmly set on striker Robert Lewandowski.
Ferguson is known to have been interested in signing the Polish striker for some time and went to the German Cup final in May to observe Lewandowski and Japanese international Shinji Kagawa when Borrusia played Bayern Munich.
Though Lewandowski continued his prolific 2011/12 season with a hat trick in the match Borussia won 5 – 2, Manchester United eventually signed Kagawa and not the Pole.
In the summer transfer window the UK’s Daily Star tabloid claimed that terms for the sale of Lewandowski to Manchester United were agreed but after the signing of Robin van Persie from Arsenal the transfer never took place.
But Sir Alex Ferguson is still thought to be interested in the striker.
It is thought that Borussia coach Coach Juergen Klopp will defiantly put Lewandowski in the first 11 to start the match tonight after resting him at the weekend for the league match against Borussia Moenchengladbach, the Pole’s team won 5– 0. (pg)
