Coach Franciszek Smuda is expected to put out a stronger team than the one that beat Latvia last weekend 1 – 0 in Klagenfurt, Austria, where the provisional 28-man squad are currently on an extended training camp.

The team for Saturday’s match is expected to include Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski, who was one of the most prolific strikers in the German Bundesliga last season.

Goalkeeping duties, which were performed by Lukasz Fabianski in the match against Latvia last weekend, are expected to be undertaken by Przemyslaw Tyton, giving first-choice keeper Wojciech Szczęsny.a rest after not being in full training for his club Arsenal for the last five weeks.

Coach Smuda’s defensive line will also have to be re-jigged somewhat after an injury in training to Jakub Wawrzyniak.

“Jakub Wawrzyniak will have a break in training, but his performance at Euro 2012 is not threatened,” the national team director of communications Tomasz Rząsa has said.

On Sunday, Smuda will announce his final squad of 23.

On 2 June, Poland will play their final warm up match with Andora before getting ready for their opening match of Euro 2012 against Greece at the National Stadium in Warsaw on 8 June. (pg)
