It has also been a tradition to convene a special "Childrens' Parliament" in the House in Warsaw. This year the session has been held for the 25th time, under the motto of "MPs of the Second Republic - their fates and activities during World War 2 and the German occupation of Poland".

The theme connects to this year's 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War 2. Seats in the June 1st "Childrens' Parliament" are decided in a national competition. The Parliament was first organized by the Chancellery of the Sejm in 1994.

International Childrens' Day was established in 1954 by the General Assembly of the United Nations and celebrated since 1955 by about 50 countries worldwide on June 1. Universal Children's Day is held on November 20, commemorating the date when the United Nations adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959.
