The Poles, Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska, Marta Wieliczko, Maria Springwald and Katarzyna Zillmann, won the race with a time of 06:08.960, beating Germany and the Netherlands which took the remaining podium spots in Plovdiv.

“It was super. A great run... It's a dream come true,” Zillmann said when she reached the finish line.

“We watched our rivals the whole time, we did not let them feel they had the power,” Wieliczko told Polish public broadcaster TVP.

The gold medal was another big win for the Polish squad which took the title of European championships in Glasgow in July. (vb)
