“Any airline could potentially be the victim of such an attack,” LOT said in a statement.

“On Sunday afternoon, LOT became the subject of a hacker attack on its ground IT systems,” the national airline said on its Facebook profile.

LOT spokesperson Adrian Kubicki said that the attack was carried out on the system responsible for issuing the flight plan – the document necessary for flights to take place.

Because of this, LOT flights were delayed from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Kraków, Wrocław, Rzeszów, Gdańsk, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Stockholm, Munich and Brussels. (rg)
