The Chilean coast guard said that all four people aboard the yacht were safely evacuated.
The rescue mission was carried out in difficult weather conditions, and was performed by members of the Chilean and Argentinian Naval Forces, which were alerted by the Henryk Arctowski research station run by the Polish Academy of Sciences on King George Island.
Situated around 120 km from the coast of Antarctica, the waters around the island are among the world's most treacherous passages for naval navigation.
