  • Czestochowa welcomes new honorary citizen. Report by Michal Kubicki.
Polish-born US businessman Zygmunt Rolat received the honour during Czestochowa Jews reunion.

Last week, the city of Czestochowa hosted the fourth get-together of the World Association of Czestochowa Jews and their Descendants. It brought together members from the United States, France, Great Britain, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark and Austria.

The Society's President, Zygmunt Rolat, received an honorary citizenship of Czestochowa, one of the most famous places of Catholic pilgrimage.

"The city of Czestochowa has a new administration. They have indicated their willingness to work together with us in the long overdue rehabilitation and preservation of our Jewish Cemetery,"

said Rolant in a letter to Society's members.
