Korean auto firm to make 100 million euro investment

A South Korean firm specialising in auto-parts is set to invest millions in the so-called Walbrzych Special Economic Zone.

Mando Corporation will be piling 400 million zloty (99.8 million euro) into a new factory in the city of Walbrzych, south west Poland.

It is estimated that about 300 jobs will be created at the site.

Mando focuses on the three main types of automobile parts; those for brakes, steering and suspension.

The Seoul-based company was founded in 1962 and it is the dominant supplier for fellow Korean giant Hyundai Motor Company.

The so-called Walbrzych Special Economic Zone “Invest Park” takes in lands from four voivoideships in south west Poland.

It was established in 1997 as a means of promoting investment in a region with a long heritage of industry, mainly in mining and textiles. (nh)
