The report covers the period from May 1 to June 30.

Compared to the previous study, which covered the period between April 21 and June 20, the number of districts facing water shortages has gone up by 670.

According to the institute, 28 percent of arable land in the 14 provinces has been affected by drought.

All crop groups and species monitored by officials were found to be vulnerable, including spring and winter cereals, potatoes, ground vegetables, sugar beets and hops.

The institute said that agricultural drought posed the greatest threat to spring cereal crops. Such an emergency was recorded in 1,219 Polish districts, almost half of the country's total number.
