Polish national carrier LOT has inaugurated direct flights from Warsaw to LebanonThe first plane took off on Friday from the Warsaw Chopin airport.
It is a second, in the past two weeks, new connection launched by LOT . On June 1st the national carrier opened direct flights to Miami in the US.
The flight to Lebanon will take some three and a half hours. The route is operated by Embraer 195 planes, taking up to 118 passengers on board. In June and September there are to be four flights a week, while in July and August, the peak of the summer holiday season, five times a week.
The new destination is targeted at tourists, both from Poland as well as from other countries , like Germany or Scandinavian countries, who stop over in Warsaw on their route to the Middle East .
LOT used to have direct flights to Lebanon , which were suspended due to the unstable situation in the region. Now , the national carrier hopes, the renewed flights will attract tourists.

According to reports over half a million tourists visited Lebanon last year.
