New ‘important state role’ for outgoing Polish finance minister: official

Poland’s outgoing finance minister Teresa Czerwińska has left the government to take up “another important state role,” a deputy prime minister said in Warsaw on Tuesday.

Polish President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday swore in seven new government ministers as part of a sweeping Cabinet reshuffle following European elections.
Czerwińska was among the replaced ministers although she had not run for the European Parliament.
When asked about the reason for her being replaced, newly appointed deputy prime minister Jacek Sasin told reporters that Czerwińska was leaving to take "another important state role."
He also said that Czerwińska was leaving public coffers in “excellent condition,” with the country’s 2018 budget deficit at around PLN 10 billion, just a quarter of the target for the year.
Sasin indicated that Czerwińska had quit of her own accord rather than being forced to resign.
