Tighter restrictions on Sunday trading along with a retail tax set to come into force in 2020 mean that next year will be difficult for large stores in Poland, the Rzeczpospolita daily has reported.

An EU court last week ruled that the European Commission had incorrectly classified a Polish progressive retail tax as state aid.
According to Rzeczpospolita, the court ruling means the tax will be introduced in Poland next year.
The retail tax was originally imposed by the Polish government in September 2016 but it was then blocked by Brussels.
Meanwhile, next year will also see a ban on Sunday trading stepped up. At the moment trading in Poland is banned on three Sundays a month.
