The annual campaign, called European Funds Open Days and coordinated by the country’s Investment and Development Ministry, includes than 800 events nationwide over three days.

Investment and Development Minister Jerzy Kwieciński has said the event is an annual celebration of all those who benefit from European Union funding, including public administration, local communities, residents and entrepreneurs.

Public broadcaster Polish Radio is a media partner of the campaign, which runs until Sunday.

Poland has received some EUR 163 billion from the European Union during the 15 years it has been a member of the bloc, while paying around EUR 53 billion into EU coffers, according to a report.

Poland became part of the EU on May 1, 2004.
