Polish retail sales up in March: stats office

Retail sales in Poland rose 1.8 percent at constant prices in March compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Tuesday.

Sales of motor vehicles and automotive parts rose 11.3 percent in year-on-year terms, while sales of food, beverages and tobacco products fell by 10.4 percent.
Sales of furniture, consumer electronics and household appliances climbed 20.5 percent.
In month-on-month terms, retail sales in March were 13.5 percent higher than in February, according to the statistics office.
In February, retail sales in Poland were 5.6 percent higher in real terms than in the same month a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office reported last month.
