Wages, employment up y/y in Poland in February: stats office

Average wages in Poland rose 7.6 percent in February compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s Central Statistical Office said on Tuesday.

The average Polish monthly wage in February was PLN 4,949.42 (EUR 1,153, USD 1,309), the office reported.

Meanwhile, employment in Polish companies increased 2.9 percent last month in year-on-year terms, according to the statistical office.

The figures are for firms with more than nine employees.

The Central Statistical Office reported last month that the average monthly wage in Poland in the fourth quarter of last year rose by 7.7 percent compared with the same quarter a year earlier.

The Polish economy grew 4.9 percent in the final quarter of last year, the Central Statistical Office said at the end of February.
