Poland finished 2018 with a budget deficit of PLN 10.4 billion (some EUR 2.4 bn), just a quarter of the target for last year, the country's finance minister said on Thursday.

Teresa Czerwińska told public broadcaster Polish Radio that government revenue approached PLN 380 billion last year, while spending came to just over PLN 390 billion.
Czerwińska said in December Poland’s budget deficit and debt were shrinking on the back of efforts to ensure spending discipline and a growing stream of tax revenue.
Polish President Andrzej Duda last month signed into law the country’s budget for 2019, which expects the economy to grow 3.8 percent, with the budget deficit targeted at PLN 28.5 billion (EUR 6.6 billion).
