Polish inflation at 1.8% in October: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 1.8 percent in year-on-year terms in October, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Wednesday.

The reading was a notch higher than a flash estimate released by the office at the end of last month.

The prices of consumer goods and services rose the most in annual terms in the transport sector -- 7.5 percent, and in restaurants and hotels -- 3.1 percent.

In September, the prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 1.9 percent higher than in the same month last year.

Inflation in August stood at 2 percent year on year, unchanged from June and July.

Inflation in May was at 1.7 percent, at 1.6 percent year on year in April, while the March figure was 1.3 percent.

Inflation in February stood at 1.4 percent in year-on-year terms, while the January reading was 1.9 percent.

In December last year, the prices of consumer goods and services in Poland rose 2.1 percent compared with the same month a year earlier.
