Polish companies could benefit from expanding more aggressively into markets beyond Europe, a government minister said on Thursday.

While many Polish businesses are eager to invest on safe European markets, they could find it worthwhile venturing beyond the region and taking more risks on more distant markets, Entrepreneurship and Technology Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz said.

She was speaking at the opening of the PAIH Expo 1st Trade & Invest Forum, a first-time event in Warsaw held by the government-run Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) amid efforts to boost Polish direct investment abroad.

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency earlier this year announced a plan to open dozens of new offices around the world in an effort to promote Polish products and companies overseas.
