Better pay and professional development opportunities are the main reasons why employees decide to seek new work, public broadcaster Polish Radio reported.

An expert cited by Polish Radio said that workers find it easier to discuss wages with a prospective employer than with their current boss. Meanwhile, businesses are having trouble filling posts.

According to the new study by researcher Randstad, it takes employees in Poland two months on average to find a job.

Unemployment in Poland stood at 5.8 percent in September, Labour Minister Elżbieta Rafalska said earlier this month.

According to the EU’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, joblessness in Poland dropped to 3.4 percent in August, the second-lowest rate in the 28-member European Union.

The EU average in August remained unchanged from July, standing at 6.8 percent, according to Eurostat.
