The report covers the period between July 21 and September 20, website Farmer.pl reported.

The Institute of Soil Science said: “The weather conditions… have led to an increase in the deficit of water for plant cultivation in western Poland,” the website reported.

According to the institute, such water shortages lower yeilds by 20 percent compared to harvests recorded in average weather conditions.

Plants most affected by the agricultural drought include potatoes, rapeseed and sugar beet, the institute added.
