The Polish jobless rate remained unchanged from April, according to the Eurostat agency.

The Czech Republic boasted the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union in May, at 2.3 percent, followed by Germany with 3.4 percent, and Hungary with 3.7 percent, according to Eurostat.

Meanwhile, Greece had the highest jobless rate in the EU, at 20.1 percent, while Spanish unemployment was the second-highest at 15.8 percent, the agency said on Monday.

It reported that the EU average for May was 7 percent, down from 7.1 percent in April.

Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last month that Polish joblessness stood at 6.1 percent in May, down from 6.3 percent in April.
