The Three Seas Initiative aims to boost cooperation between 12 Central European, Baltic and Western Balkan states: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
The “From Warsaw to Bucharest: The Way Forward for the Three Seas Initiative” conference is a joint project by the German Marshall Fund and the Polish Institute of International Affairs.
Officials from Lithuania and Romania as well as the US State Department were also scheduled to take part in the event.
Cichocki said ahead of the meeting that the Three Seas Initiative "aims to make it easier for central European countries to catch up with the countries of western Europe."
He added: "We are still dragging behind when it comes to roads and pipeline networks. We are dominated by connections from east to west, and we want to work on north-south connections."
