Fewer workers per pensioner in Poland

There are four people of working age -- between 15 and 64 -- in Poland for every person aged over 65, the EU’s statistics office, Eurostat, has said.

In 2008, there were five people of working age for every person aged over 65, experts from recruitment agency Personnel Service said.

Nearly one in five people in the European Union are aged 65 or over, according to Eurostat.

Last year for every person aged 65 or over there were three people of "productive" age in the EU.
