The Polish government is stepping up rules for drivers of ride-sharing service providers such as Uber, the Rzeczpospolita daily has said.

Rzeczpospolita reported that Uber and rival Taxify said they will adjust to any changes, and Uber spokeswoman Magdalena Szulc said her company “will not back out of Poland”.
Under planned new laws, ride-sharing drivers will be required to have the same licenses as taxi drivers, Rzeczpospolita said.
This could undermine Uber’s business model, which is based on connecting regular drivers with passengers, the paper added.
But Poland is too significant a market for Uber to back out of, with as many drivers and passengers in Warsaw as there are in New York or London, Rzeczpospolita said. (vb)
