Analysts had expected a reading of 53.1 points.

Markit said that the March reading of the index, the same as in February, signaled “a further solid improvement in economic conditions in Polish industry despite a slowdown in the rate at which new orders are growing.”

In February, the Polish PMI fell for a second consecutive month after reaching an almost three-year high of 55 in December.

A neutral PMI rating of 50 means that businesspeople in the country feel that the economy will not change over the coming month.

A higher rating means that it is expected to improve, while a PMI rating below 50 indicates that many think it will deteriorate.
