The Polish economy grew 4.6 percent in 2017, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said in a flash estimate on Tuesday.

The reading was in line with expectations by analysts.

Poland’s economic growth last year was twice the European Union average and was chiefly driven by domestic demand, according to the office’s head, Dominik Rozkrut.

In 2016, Poland’s gross domestic product expanded by 2.9 percent, the Central Statistical Office noted.

The World Bank earlier this month upgraded Poland's 2018 GDP growth forecast to 4 percent from a previous projection of 3.6 percent.
