Poland's government has established a new state-owned aviation group led by the national airline LOT, the country’s Development Ministry said on Wednesday.

It added that the consolidation move reflected similar trends in Western Europe.
The new Polish Aviation Group, endowed with a capital of PLN 1.2 billion (EUR 290 million, USD 350 million), brings together the country’s largest aviation service providers led by LOT Polish Airlines.
The group, which also includes aircraft service provider LOT AMS and LS Airport Services, a provider of ground services for passengers, is expected to be able to more effectively compete with global rivals, officials said.
LOT CEO Rafał Milczarski will head the new group as its chairman of the board.
