Polish-Turkish business forum in Warsaw

Held at the Polish capital’s Westin Hotel, the forum is expected to provide opportunities for talks between Polish and Turkish companies and brief participants on plans for economic cooperation between the two countries.

Turkey is one of the world’s fastest growing economies, with forecasts of further stable expansion in the next few years. The country also ranks among the world's top 20 economies in terms of GDP size.

Bilateral commerce growing fast

Trade between Poland and Turkey is growing rapidly. In 2016, it stood at around EUR 6.2 billion, with Poland reporting a small surplus. This was chiefly due to small and medium-sized companies, which were responsible for about 60 percent of bilateral trade.

For now Turkey buys only 1.5 percent of Poland’s total exports, testifying to the potential for further development of bilateral commerce, economists say.

The Polish-Turkish business forum has been organised by the Polish Chamber of Commerce (KiG) together with the Ministry of Development, the Polish Agency for Investment and Trade, the Polish-Turkish Chamber of Commerce, and the Polish-Turkish Business Council. The Turkish embassy in Poland and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEiK) have supported the event.

Turkey’s Erdoğan is coming to Warsaw on Tuesday at the invitation of Polish President Andrzej Duda.
