Europe’s largest electric battery factory to be built in Poland

The plant will make batteries for electric cars and be run by LG Chem Wrocław Energy, a subsidiary of the South Korean corporation LG.

It will operate as part of a special economic zone in Kobierzyce near the city of Wrocław.

The project will create about 2,500 jobs and is scheduled to be completed next year, according to officials.

The Polish government has set itself an ambitious goal to rapidly develop electric-powered road transport, especially in urban centres.

Last year the government announced that by 2025 Poland aims to have one million electric cars on its roads, in a bid to cut carbon emissions from transport.
