Raising a child in Poland from birth to the age of 18 costs up to PLN 200,000 (EUR 48,000) – up by five percent in two years – the Adam Smith Centre think-tank has said.

In a report released on Children's Day, marked on 1 June, the think-tank said raising a second child costs 80 percent more.
The head of the Adam Smith Centre, Andrzej Sadowski, said the rising cost of living is pushing up the cost of raising children.
Sadowski also said state-controlled prices, such as energy, were growing, while the quality of health care and education were sub-par.
“We are paying ever more for extra-curricular education and health care,” Sadowski added. (vb/pk)
