The new body will include dozens of research institutes, under plans in a bill drawn up by the country’s science ministry.
The new institute will be overseen by the science minister. Public consultation on the plans ended on Thursday.
The bill says that the institute’s goal is “to conduct research and development work that is particularly important for the implementation of the country's economic, science, scientific-technical and innovation policies.”
By combining the potential of smaller existing centres, the institute aims to help facilitate a uniform government policy on innovation, increase the chances of Polish researchers for international grants and improve their success rate in obtaining patents.
