Polish trade unions have asked the country’s labour and development ministries to oversee the situation, the IAR news agency has said.
The agency said unions are concerned about a possible deal to buy Opel, which employs some 4,000 people in two plants in southern Poland.
According to the IAR news agency, Poland’s Development Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said he is in touch with the head of Opel, a General Motors subsidiary, and the German and French finance ministers.
Morawiecki added that the Polish plants are efficient and will prove themselves should the deal go ahead, the IAR news agency reported. (vb/pk)
