At around 6.45 pm, the euro cost PLN 4.42 zł, the US dollar PLN 4.12, the Swiss franc PLN 4.11, and the British pound PLN 5.12.

Piotr Poplawski, an analyst at ING Bank Sląski told PAP: “weak data is not helping the złoty, but I doubt that the members of the [Monetary Policy Council] will change their minds and begin to recommend interest rate cuts.”

“Recent economic data from the US is good, however, meaning investors are ever more expectant of the Fed raising interest rates. This does not paint a very positive picture for Polish assets,” he added.

The benchmark interest in Poland was dropped in March 2015 to 1.5 percent, a record low. It has not been changed since. (rg)
