Citing “two sources from the banking sector” Polish media outlets, including newspapers Rzeczpospolita, Parkiet and Puls Biznesu, said Deutsche Bank wants to sell its foreign businesses, including Deutsche Bank Polska, in order to meet new banking regulations.

Should the sale go ahead Deutsche Bank would join a number of foreign banks leaving Poland.

Austria’s Raiffeisen and Italy's UniCredit banks are selling their business in Poland, while US-owned GE Money agreed to sell its Polish arm to Poland’s Alior Bank earlier this year.

Poland’s governing Law and Justice (PiS) party, which swept into power last year, wants more of the local banking sector to be controlled by domestic owners. (vb/pk)
