Deflation continues in Poland

The prices of consumer goods and services in Poland fell 1.1 percent year-on-year in April as deflation continued, according to the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).

Fuel, clothing and footwear all cost less than a year earlier.

But prices in restaurants and hotels went up, as did the cost of food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The Central Statistical Office said Poland’s consumer price index (CPI) in April was 0.3 percent higher than in March. (pk)
