The organisers of the protest called on parliamentarians to halt work on the bill, and handed a petition to the Speaker of the lower house of parliament calling for politicians to not block the development of wind energy in the country.

According to the President of the Polish Wind Energy Association, Wojciech Cetnarski, the bill was prepared by PiS without consulting the industry.

Opponents claim that if passed, the bill would make it impossible to build new wind farms in Poland.

Cetnarski pointed out there the industry employs some 8,000 people in Poland. (rg/pk)
