Przemysław Kuk from the National Bank of Poland (NBP) said borrowers should check if a lending company is on a blacklist drawn up by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.
He added that borrowers should carefully read a contract with a lending firm before signing - something many Poles fail to do.
Experts are also advising consumers to check the total cost of a loan, which may turn out to be far more expensive than it appears at first glance. (pk)
