"This is not good news,” said Adam Łącki, chairman of the board of the National Debt Register.

“Over the last six months the total debt of the construction industry listed in the National Debt Register increased by over PLN 320 million, over two times more than during the entire previous year, when the increase was PLN 136 million.”

Łącki added that average debt fell slightly “but this is mainly the result of over 12,000 new companies in the industry being added to the debt register. "

Construction companies owe the most – over PLN 400 million in total – to financial and insurance firms.

They have unpaid invoices to retail firms totaling PLN 385 million. (pk)
