Puls Biznesu daily reports that these are American Westinghouse, Japanese GE Hitachi, Canadian SNC-Lavalin Nuclear, French Areva and EDF, and also South Korean KEPCO.

By the end of 2015 PGE EJ1, the company founded by the state-owned Polish Energy Group (PGE) to build the facility, is to launch what are known as integrated proceedings which take in the selection of technology to be used and the method of financing the project.

The former Polish government led by the liberal Civic Platform party set the date for breaking the ground under the country’s first nuclear reactor project in 2019 – that is when the present conservative Law and Justice ruling party will have to take the final decision whether to go ahead with plans.

If approved, the 3,000 MW power station is to be fully operational by 2024. The location of the nuclear plant is yet to be selected. (aba/rk)
