Sugar is gradually being superseded by ready-made sweets and milk, by yoghurts and other dairy products, a recent report by BGŻ BNP Paribas said.
Bottled-water sales rose three times in the last 15 years, and are expected to rise further, as well as the consumption of fruit juice.
Milk, meat and ham consumption is forecast to grow, as well.
Unfortunately fruit and vegetables are on the decline and will stay that way, the bank specialists say.
The changes are mostly an outcome of the society becoming richer, and the growing popularity of dining out.
However, a healthy lifestyle has become fashionable in Poland, and is also contributing to the changes in the food sector. (tf/rg/di)
