Poland's largest photovoltaic farm has a capacity of almost 4 MW and was commissioned in the municipality of Czernikowo near the northern city of Toruń.

The installation consists of nearly 16,000 solar panels, each with a capacity of 240W.

The farm covers an area of over 24,000 sqm.

The project is completely eco-friendly, it does not pollute the air, produces no waste or emit any noise,” utility Energa Group which mages the array said on Wednesday.

A conventional power plant would produce approximately 3,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide to emit a similar amount of power.

The total cost of the project amounted to PLN 81.6 (EUR 19.07) million, of which more than PLN 19.5 (EUR 4.56) million comes from funding from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the company said. (rg/rk)
