Poland's LOT and Turkish Airlines sign agreement

The national airlines of Poland and Turkey have signed a strategic partnership agreement to better cooperate in future.

“Recognising the great significance of deepening the cooperation and desiring to create the most appropriate conditions for their development, both the Turkish and Polish carriers have decided to implement a strategic partnership to make use of the possibilities to enhance benefits for their customers by offering them more connection alternatives and an even better product,” LOT wrote in a press statement.
“LOT is ready to grow immediately as of 2016, and now is the best moment to strengthen equal cooperation with our key airline partners,” said CEO Sebastian Mikosz.
“LOT and Turkish Airlines have been partners for many years. I am convinced that this letter of understanding will help us create a unique and global offer,” Mikosz added.
LOT and Turkish airlines have long worked closely together. They have been codesharing each other's filghts since 2000. In 2013, at a time when LOT was in dire financial straits, Turkish Airlines was looking at the privatisation process with a prospect of buying a stake in the Polish carrier.
In 2014, LOT reported its first net profit in seven years. (rg/rk)
