The Kraków-based Intertour announced its insolvency on Friday, leaving 173 holidaymakers stranded abroad.

According to the Province Chairman's Office of the Małopolska region, on Saturday morning a number of buses left for the Balkans organised by the local government.

On Sunday evening, they set off on their way back to Poland with 69 people on board – 24 Polish tourists returing from Bulgaria, 23 from Montenegro and 22 from Croatia.

Another 104 clients are still abroad and will return to Poland between 7 and 12 August.

Earlier reports said that the buses were paid for by Intertour's insurer. (rg/rk)
